A vote of condolence with relatives of the late Professor F. D. Brown was carried.

A letter was received from the headquarters of the Victoria League, London, offering assistance to New Zealand students proceeding to work in English universities or in naval and military colleges. The letter stated that the High Commissioner for New Zealand. Sir James lien, had suggested that the league should acquaint the New Zealand University with the special facilities afforded by the lea/me in Great Britain. "We know," ran the communication, "that young men and women coming to this country for study are sometimes rather lonely, especially in their first few months, which is the more to ho regretted as so many English peoplo only want to know of their whereabouts to offer thorn all the friendliness and kindly attentions which" they can want." The league particularly suggested that help could bo given students by offering special opportunities of seeing places and things in England which might help them in their studies, and the suggestion was made that the league should be notified of students visiting Great Britain and that letters of introduction should be given to students heforo leaving the Dominion. It was decided to acquaint the students with the league's offer. Art invitation was received to send a representative to a conference of British and American professors in English to bo held at Columbia _ University, New York, next June. The promoters hoped that, the conference would help in securing closer relations between the British and American peoples. It was decided to reply that an effort would bo made to have Auckland represented. Mr. S. S. Lamb was appointed representative of the engineering departmert on the Professorial Board.
