. AUCKLAND REPRESENTATIVES' DEFEAT OF WANGANUI. [BY TELEGBAFH. —HtESS ASSOCIATION.] WANGANUI, Saturday. The Auckland hockey representatives defeated Wanganui to-day by 6 goals to 2. The ground was soft and heavy. Auckland's first score came early as a result of a Bhot by E. Watts after a good run down the centre. Wanganui retaliated, and play went to Auckland's twenty-five. After some eyen play, Auckland livened up, and several shots went wide. From a twentyfive bully, the visitors pressed, and C. Watts scored with a good shot. Give-and-take play followed, with no decided advantage to either side, and half-time eounded without further score. On resuming. Auckland were first away, and their third goal camc as a result of a shot by C. Watts. Wanganui took up the otlensivo, but failed to pierce the visitors' defence till Webb centred to Hawken, who notled. The home team continued to attack and added their second score shortly after. Auckland then gained the ascendancy and scored three more goals, two by E. Watts and one by Torrens. Wanganoi failed to add to their tally and the game ended •. Auckland . . .. . . .
