PRICE-CUTTING "WAR."
/. -o» CHRISTCHURCH GROCERS. [ ' EFFORTS TO ORGANISE. l [BT TEX.Er.KAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. , The general public has benefited i as tho result of the price war that has. been going on among Christchurch i grocery firms, but has had only meagre > details as to the extent to which it has proceeded. A number of grocery busi-. nesses in the city are on .a preferential basis, and can obtain their stocks cheaper ' than others. Thus they , have not been so adversely affected by the price-cutting . that has preceded the attempt to secure customers. With a view to putting a stop to "hostilities" the heads of firms met this week. Proceedings were private, but it has been gathered that an effort was made to revive the association previously existing among grocers. As a result of the agreements come to the public may have to pay some increases in prices of necessaries in the course of the next few days.
