BUSINESS GIRLS AT HOME.

m< . — It is unjust if the business girl expects the rest of the family to wait on her hand and foot because she leads an offioe We. But, on the other hand, iVis unfair for the family to expect her to devote all her free tune to household tasks, says a contemporary writer. . Moreover, when the business girl pays for her keep " at home the same amount as she woui'd have to pay elsewhere, it is onlv fair that she should get at least equal convenience and consideration within the family circle. Whoever is responsible for the management of the homo should see that the business girl has plenty of time to dress and have breakfast before settine out for tho office. Many business girls complain that they frequently have to tro without their breakfast or leave it half-finished simply because the home folks cannot realise the fact that they must be at the office at the proper time. Then, again, people at home are sometimes very unreasonable about expeoting the business girl to carry out all sorts of commissions for them during offioe hours. They feel injured when she explains that she is not entitled to use the offioe telephone for personal calls, and that they have far more time than she has to go to a public call office. The family, too, are apt to think that because the business girl's office is near a shopping centre she can " pop out in tho luncheon hour " and buy this, that, and the other for thorn. Often, perhaps, she good-naturedly conbents, and misses or curtails in consequence the midday meal and exercise that are so necessary to maintain her standard of efficiency. . It happens occasionally that the business girl receives an* attractive invitation for the evening or desires to take a special friend home to dinner with her. Shedare not, however, do either "without telling them about it at home." If she were -paying for her board and lodging elsewhere she would be.free to please herself. It is always a pity when the business girl leaves the family circle to "live on her own." If parents and other members of the family would just put themselves now and again in the business girl's place they would appreciate these little points, and so come to make hecJiome life happier and more comfortable. She, in return, should be ready to give help when necessary.
