REBELS IN LOUTH.
FREE STATE MEASURES.' ; ADVANCE ON DROGHEDA. "A BATTLE IMMINENT. , CORK REBELS INVESTED. By Teleeraoh—Press Association— Copyright. (Received 9.5 p.m.) £. and N.Z.—Router. LONDON, Aug. 13. The success of the Irish rebels in the North of Ireland is likely to be shortlived. They are already falling back before the advance of Free State reinforcements, which are concentrating on Drogheda, and a battle there is imminent. It is stated that 10 persons were killed and 40 wounded when the rebels recaptured Dundalk. The dead are mostly Free State troops, killed in an explosion of mines under the barracks, which held 200 Free State troops. It is reported from Belfast that the viaduct over the River Boyne at Drogheda has been destroyed, . which means indefinite suspension of the Belfast-Dub-lin railway service. Trains from Dublin ar« not running beyond Drogheda, which although surrounded, appears to be .still the hands of Free State troops. Several more towns in the South of Ireland have been taken by Free Staters, who have surrounded the main body of rebels in County Cork. Free State troops occupied Buttevant, in County Cork, six and a-half miles north of Mallow, where the Dublin Guards engaged a party of rebels, who were mining a road. The rebels decamped, leaving a motor-car and a large quantity of explosives. Eleven prisoners were taken. Killarney has als<> been occupied by Free State troops, who encountered no opposition.
