DELAY IN BUILDING.
THE Ft IRA SCHOOL CASE. board denies The statement" made in the House of Representatives by the Minister for Education, the Hon. C. J. Parr, on Tuesday regarding tthe alleged delay in the erection of a school building at Rira, near Aria, was discussed by the Education Board yesterday. The secretary stated that the board first made application for a school site and building at the end of July and August, 1921, and the authority •was received in January, 1922. On March 13 the board'a solicitors reported that they had sent the transfer to the vendor for execution, with a request that he forward it to the commissioner of Crown lands at New Plymouth. The Education Department was asked to impress upon ii? lands authorities the urgency of the mattei. In August the board was notified that tide commissioner had been instructed to arrange for the surrender of the land and ijsue of the title as 6Oon as possible. The board had no power to proceed with the erection of a school building until it was in possession of the title. It was resolved to write to Mr. Parr and Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P., stating the reasons for the delay and reminding them that the board was in no way responsible.
