CHRISTIAN SCIENCE.
LECTURE ON ITS TEACHINGS.
A lecture on "Christian Science" was delivered in the Scots Hall last evening by Mr. C. J. Ohrenstein, of New York, a member of the Christian Science mother church at Boston. Mr. W. J. Abbott, vice-president of the First Church of Christ. Scientist, Auckland, presided over an attendance which filled the- hall. The speaker said that Christ showed' that all ailments were curable and all matter unreal by the miracle? 0 f His life, testified to by the most honest of men. Such actions only we::e possible through the knowledge of the underlying cause, which was God. Christian Science defined God as power, spirit, mind, and unlimited intelligence, while man was made in His image. It was incumbent on all men to show faith in the intelligence, power and love of God. If God was true, infinite and good, then all that was contrary to God was contrary to truth and goodness, and man, who was God's image or re flection, was not man if he did not reflect his God, or "good." When people realised that God was Mind, and Truth and Love, and that God was their God, everything right would be more possible to them, everything wrong would become' more and more impossible. If they were fallen this would uplift them; if sorrowful, it would comfort them ; if sick, diseased, it would ea.se thern until it healed them, and if they had been failures, with tbis right idea of being they could rise to success. In thousand?, of instances, said the speaker, this had been demonstrated.
