ST. JOHN AMBULANCE.

RUGBY UNION'S DONATION.

HALF SATURDAY'S "GATE."

The good work accomplished by members of St. John Ambulance Association is, perhaps, brought home more to the publiq at sports gathsrings, and football matches, than on any other occasion, and the debt, that athletes and footballers owe to them has often been expressed. To afford practical proof of this appreciation, the Auckland Rugby Union has decided to donate to tlxs a«6ociation 50 per cent, of the gate ptrooeeds at Saturday's matches. The amount so raised will be the nucleus of a uniform fund. As the fixtures for Saturday should provide first-class contests, the added attraction of assisting in a worthy cause, will doubtless attract a large attendance at fho Rugby grounds. Those who cannot attend the matches may assist by sending donations to the treasurer of the union.
