JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS.
CRITICISM OF THE SCHEME. " TOO MANY THEORISTS." The proposed system of junior high schools formed the subject of a brief discussion at the meeting of the Auckland Grammar School Board yesterday. The chairman, Professor A. P. W. Thomas, said it was a disadvantage to boys to have to change their pchools. The junior high school system would involve a break .in the middle of a boy's secondary course. If a boy was going right through the Grammar School to the university he ought not to have to go to a junior high schoolMr. G. W. Murray stated that a boy on leaving the primary school was much in •advance in some subjects taken in the secondary school and behind-hand in others. The purpose of the junior high schools was to adjust these differences and prepare the pupil for the secondary course.
Some members disagreed with these views, and Professor H. W. Segar said, "Wb have got too many theorists influencing education-''
