A popular movement has started to save the battleship Makasa from the scrap heap, to which she is doomed under the Washington Naval Treaty, after she has been disarmed. -The movement is grounded on sentiment, the Makasa having been Admiral Togo's battleship in the battle of <jhe Sea of Japan in v the Russo-Japanese war. The vessel is regarded by the Japanese as comparable to Nelson's Victory.
