"WIND AND WATER."
WAR INFLATED CURRENCY, SIR J. COOKE'S RECIPE. LONDON. Juno 27. Sir Joseph Cook, High Commissioner for Australia, speaking at Hull, said that many were looking to the Government of the day to get them out of their trade difficulties. He advised these not to expect too much. Two sharply defied schools of thought prevailed at the Genoa Conference, which kad adopted tho golden mean instead of making a financial equation for the whole of Europe.
It had boon decided, where things were so uneven, to leave those countries nearest the gold standi* to look after their own currency, and deal as best as they could with the countries which had departed from it."
He believed that they were facing financial troubles in the only way possible. They were trying to get out of currency the wind! and water pumped in during the ■war. He thought that the British would be one of the first to emerge into the suu r light of financial sanity and soundness again. ________________
