THE EARTHQUAKE AREA.

ONLY SLIGHT TREMORS. [BT TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORB.E3PONDENT.] ROTORTJA. Wednesday. Though there have, been numerous shocks in. the earthquake area none have been of any magnitude recently. There was a slight tremor last night at Eotorua. TREMOB AT *TATJRAr?GA. [bx telegraph—own correspondent.] TATJRANGA. Wednesday. An earth tremor was shown by a specially installed pendulum at Mr. G. A. WartTs residence at Tauranga about 4.40 p.m. yesterday. An interesting point in connection with it was that the line of swing, instead of approaching to a lins between here and Taupo, was that indicated by a previous earthouako, where the centre of activity was evidently close to the foot of Mount Edgecombe, near Te Teko, a divergence of some 60 degrees separating these two lines.
