ABATTOIR ASSISTANTS.
HEARING OF THE DISPUTE.
A conference under the Labour Disputes Investigation Act, between the City Council and the Abattoir Assistants' Employees' Union, was held yesterday, Mr. T. Harle Giles presiding. The delegates for the City Council were Messrs. R. W. Bugg and S. E. Wright, for the union, Messrs. A. Freeman, W. Sharp, and G. Robinson. After considerable discussion it was agreed to allow the decision of the Labour Disputes Committee in the R. and W. Hellaby abattoir assistants' case to govern this dispute. The committee will sit at the Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday. Mr. C. Bauson will preside. The representatives of the city abattoir assistants will have the right to appear before th 9 Labour Disputes Committee and give evidence at the discr* tion of the chairman.
