The British Empire League gave a dinner in honour of the High Commissioners for the Dominions, the Duke of Devonshire presiding. Sir Joseph Cook, responding, dwelt on the desirability of servants of the Empire following the example of the Prince of Wales in visiting the far-flung Dominions, visualising their conditions and appreciating the community of race, the community of ideas, and the community of sacrifice which characterises the British Empire. The High Commissioner for New Zealand, Sir James Allen, emphasised the importance of the link represented by the High Commissioners.
