INDUSTRIAL DISPUTES.
CITY TRAMWAY OFFICERS. SITTING OF CONFERENCE. A conference under the Labour Disputes Investigation Act, between the Auckland Tramway Officers' Union and th* City Council, was held yesterday, to consider the demands of the union. Tne j conciliation commissioner, Mr. T. Harle Giles, presided. The representatives of the council were MessKS. G. R. Hutchin- ; son, A. E. Ford, and J. Stanton, and ;of 'the union. Messrs. J. Broader, A. I Angus, and A. Rosser. After discussion ; which lasted throughout tbe morning the 'council's representatives submitted certain proposals which the union representatives will place before the union, lie conference was therefore adjourned until : nest Tuesdav. A special meeting of the I union will be held on Monday evening to j consider the matter. _ ' With regard to the abattoir employees -dispute, adjourned from last week, the , Minister for Labour has appointed Mr. i C. Ranson as chairman of the committee, : which will sit at the Chamber of ComI merce on Tuesday morning.
