SLACKNESS IN TRADE.

The discussion round the council table went to show that things were very slack in the engineering trade at present, and a great many men were out of work in Chnstchurcb. The fanners had" no money with which to buy implements, and this was reflected in the whole . trade position. Christchurch, however, ' appeared to be not as bad as othei ] centres. j
