TE MIRO SETTLEMENT. [BY TEtEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CAMBRIDGE. Monday. At a meeting of the Cambridge Road Board, the chairman reported that with the foreman and secretary he had inspected the reads in the district, and the whole of them were in good condition. A motion, which will be confirmed at the next meeting, was passed as follows: — "That the board intends, at the meeting to be held on Saturday, July 22, to make and levy a general rate of |d for the year 1922-23." This is a reduction of £d on last year's rate. A deputation from the Waikato County Council waited on the board and asked it to consider the inclusion of the Te Miro Settlement in the Cambridge Road District. Mr. Bailey said the deputation had visited the settlement, and had seen the awkward position of the soldier settlers. They had no properly-formed roads, and they wanted roads formed to give access to Matamata and the railway. The ' Piako Council wa3 willing to form a road on it 3 side of the range. The deputation saw the necessity for tha settlers being connected with some local body. They were quite willing to pay rates. The board would benefit by having new roads and extra rates. The board decided to give the matter full consideration.
