A SAMOAN REGULATION.
—i m • REPEALED AS OBSOLETE, MUNITIONS FOR ISLApS. An Order-in-Council was published vi the New Zealand Gazette in FeTvrnary, 1895, prohibiting the export of Sfireanns, gunpowder, munitions of war, and warhTcß stores from Now Zealand to Samoa. Thft Samoan rebellion had taken place in the preceding year, the natives, were still in a disturbed state, and it wss considered : desirable that the opportunities of th« Samoans for making frrther trouble ijj should be restricted as far as possible. Nearly £0 years later the Great War began, and New Zealand found occasion to send firearms and munitions of war to Samoa in considerable quantities, with the troops that took the territory from th« V; Geiinans. The 614 regulation appears to have been overlooked flt the time. Now ft i has been revoked by an Order-in-Council • dated June 8, 19 r J2. and published in la*4 ! week's Gazette. • ..■■;/•: '■$
