It is expected that checking and counting absent votes will be completed on ' Thursday and the quotas struck. J The Premier, Sir Walter Lee, states that the results to date are disappointing. ' Moderate electors, alarmed at the possi--1 bility of the Country Party obtaining the balance of power, swung over to Labour, ' which was torn with dissension, and would not have polled so heavily if confronted by a united anti-Socialist party. The only course now was to throw the responsibility on the Country Party to say whether it would assist in maintaining stable government for three years 01 have a fresh appeal to the electors in a few months. __
