STOCKS AND SHARES.
Business was fairly brisk yesterday on the Auckland sharemarket, the demand for investment stocks being well maintained. In Government bonds there was a sale of Soldiers* Loan at £97 17s 6d. In banks there were buyers for P- and O. at £13 15s, no selleiu quoting. Several sales were effected in Nationals (rights), at prices ranging from 18s 6d to 19s, the closing quotations being buyers 18s 9d, sellers 19s 3d. In insurances New Zealands were wanted at 28s 6d, sellers 28s 9d. South British at 36s 9d were wanted at 36s 3d. Offers for Nationals at 60a 6d met with no response from sellers, • In financial lines there was a sale of Goldsbrough, Mort. at 36s 9d, late buyers offering 365, sellers not quoting* In coals there was a transaction in Tauph'is (pref.) at 22s 6d. In shipping business was done in Union Steams (pre/.) at "i9s, other buyers offering 18s 9d, sellers 19s 9d. In miscellaneous lines there was a sale of Mikie and Choyce debenture stock at 21a, further buyers offering 20s 6u. .no late sellers quoting. In mining business was done in Waihis at 2S;s 3d, the closing quotations being sellers 235, buyers 22s 3d. Grand Junctions had inquirers it 6s lid, sellers 7s 2d. The following sales took place diers' Loan (bonds), £97 17s 6d; National Bank (eights), 18s 6d, 18s 9d, 13s; Goldsbrough, Mort, 36s 9d; Taupiri (pref.), 22s 6d; Union Steam (pref.), 19s; Milne and Choyce debenture stock, 21s; Wailii, 22s 3d.
