In Piccadilly, not fifty yards from Piccadilly Circus, one of London's indomitable pigeons became bewildered by the traffic, stopped a moment too long In the roadway, and was struck and injured by a wheel of a motor-omnibus. It lay, bruised and almost (senseless, in the middle of the street. Another omnibus was approaching, which could hardly avoid crushing it to death.
