THE OATH OF ALLEGIANCE.
MR. A. W. PAGE SUPPORTED. A very successful conference and reunion was held by members of the Fellowship of Reconciliation at, tho Frionda' meeting house on Saturday. Tho confcrcnco recorded its kceu appreciation of the stand taken by Mr. A. VV. Page, late assistant master of the Christchurch Boys' High School, in refusing to take the oath of allcgiancc unless safeguarded by a conscience clause, and deplored the fact "that such a reasonable and necessary Christian attitude" should have occasioned his instant dismissal. It. called on fhoso wlio va'ue religious liberty to work for the abolition of all oaths, but meanwhile to insist on the addition of a. proviso : "So long as such undertaking does not conflict with what 1 consider to be my duty to God."
