ACTIVE WOOL MARKET.
KEEN DEMAND IN SYDNEY. PRIVATE OPERATIONS. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, May 13. The Sydney Daily Telegraph, commenting on the animation in the wool market, says that seldom lias the demand for Merinos been so keen and widespread as j to-day: seldom, if ever, have general con- j ditions of the market been as favourable J to growers. It is a truly wonderful mar- i ket; as the prves go up the demand j seems to widen and accentuate. I'racti- ! c&llv all sections are operating, and all | are eager to secure supplies before the • season ends. Buyers unable to fill orders j in the auction room have been keen operators privately. The crossbred position also shows a distinct improvement, though marked preference is revealed for finer free descriptions. The demand for very ooarse, "burry sorts is still prejudiced bv the big weight of Bnwra low-grade crossbreds remaining over from the appraisement scheme, whyh | linings like a wet blanket over trade.
j (TROSSBIiEDS BUOYANT, j
i FIRM TONE IN LONDON. j A. and N.Z. LONDON. May 12. I At tho wool sales, a moderate selection of Merinos sold well at full rates. Crossbreds were buoyant, and the market for all grades was very firm.
