REDUCING MINERS' WAGES.

N.S. WALES PROPOSALS. [FBOJI OUR OWN OOTMtESPON'DEN'T.] SYDNEY. May 3. colliery proprietors have decided to apply to the Arbitration Court for a reduction of the miners' wages. They have suggested that the wages he reduced by one-third: that, if required by the management, all employees -shall work six days each week; that the hours of employment of all surface employees shall be calculated as exclusive of meal time; that the hours of employment of underground contract and day labour employees shall be calculated as: from the time the last man descends until the first man ascends in each shift. The miners are up in arms against the proposals. They declare that the companies can reduce the price of coal without reducing the wages, and still make a good profit. Mass' meetings of the miners have been called to consider the position.
