Professor E. Marsdon, of Victoria College, Wellington, is at' the Grand Hotel. Dr. C. J. Rea'kes, under-secretarv of tho Department oii Agriculture, is at th P Grand Hotel. Mr. R. W. McVilly, General Manager of Railways, is making an extended tour of the Southern railways. . Mr. Eisaku Suzuki has been appointed Consul-General for Japan at Sydney, with jurisdiction over New Zealand. Mr. A. W. Nicol, health inspector at~ Christchurch, has: been transferred to Whan gam. Ho will leave for tho North this week. Mr. Justice Reed wag to leave Wellington for New Plymouth at the week-end ' to preside over tho criminal sessions of - the Supremo Court. Brigadier-General Sir Donald McGavin, Director-General of Medical Services, has been paying a visit of inspection to the military sanatorium at Christchurch. Dr. A. D. S. Whyte, medical officer of health for Dunedin, has resigned. He entered tho service of the Health Department upon the termination of his war duties.
