AUSTRALIAN “DEBRETT.”
PROMOTER ABSCONDS.
DISAPPOINTED SUBSCRIBERS
LONDON. May 1. Keen disappointment awaits numerous Australian 0.8.E.'s and M.B.E.'s, who were circularised by the editor of a book which was intended to be the Australian equivalent of " Debrctt's Peerage," buu would have been additionally attractive because, for a consideration, not only biographies, but photographs cf the recipients of honours would have been published. j The response to the circular was apparently very gratifying to the promoter, but despite payments for the biographies and photographs and payment in advance for the book, no copies reached Australia. As a result, Australia House is 'beginning to receive inquiries from the subscribers, who state in each case thatmoney and a photograph were sent. Inquiries made by Scotland Yard have elicited that the editor absconded to Holland. A warrant for his arrest will be issued in the event of his returning to England.
