VALMARIE REFLOATED.
REQUEST FOR A TUG.
BUYER'S LUCKY VENTURE. [BY rELEGRAI'H.—PttKSS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Wednwday. Word was received to-day that the schooner Valmarie had been refloated, and in response to a telegram from Mr. E. Tasker, of Nelson, who recently bought tho vessel, the tug Pelican left Wellington this afternoon for Farewell Spit to tow the Valmarie cither to Picton or Wellington.
The schooner Valmarie stranded on Farowell Spit on February 16. while en route from Clarence River to Wellington with a cargo of hardwood. Repeated attempts were made for nearly a month to saJvagc the vessel, but she was eventually abandoned to the underwriters. At an auction sale, held at Wellington on March 29, the hull and equipment was sold to Mr. E. A. Tasker. of Nelson, for £125. He also bought the hardwood cairgo for £80. The hull was insured for £6000 and the cargo for £3500.
