CHARITY CONCERT.

A very enjoyable concert, under the auspices of the Auckland City Band, was given in the Town Hall concert chamber last evening. There was a large attendance, the proceeds of the entertainment being in aid of two distressed Auckland families. The programme was full of merit, and many of the items were encored. The Auckland City Band gave a sympathetic rendering of the contest setoction, " Roberto il Diavolo." The Hawaiian ladies' orchestra played several melodies, to the accompaniment of which poi dances were given by three Maori girls. The Lyric Quartette was recalled for the singing of "My Mummy," the encore item being " Mary." Enjoyable vocal items were given by Messrs. Arthur Ripley, R. Hart, J. Pettersen, J. Bree, and E. Ghnrchouse. A novelty pianoforte solo, " Bells," was played by Mr. Arthur Bree, while clever dances were given by Miss Lila Collins and Miss Bernice Sanford. Mr. Alan McElwain provided a humorous item, whilo other items were a fluto solo by Mr. Maurice Gilman, a duet by Messrs. R. Hart and J. Pettersen, aiid an item by permission of Messrs. Fuller. The accompanists were Messrs. Cyril towsey and Mr. Arthur Bree.
