"I quite understand that we would got back to normal more rapidly if the reduction in the bonus wore a larger one, but I am inclined to think that that would inflict more hardship on the mass of tho people." In reply to a question as to the effect on prices, Mr. Fowlds said the reduction in the bonus might be expected to have an effect in some directions, but it was not sufficient to make a very appreciable difference in many lines.
