BOARD AND DEPARTMENT.

FINAL RATIFICATION. The Arapuni hydro-electric power scheme was referred to yesterday by Mr. YV. J. Holdsworth, chairman of the Auckland Electric Power Board, who said the agreement had been finally ratified by the board, and was now awaiting the decision of tha Minister for Public Works, the Hon. J. G. Coates, respecting a slight alteration to one of the clauses. Upon receipt of this, he said, the final agreement would be executed. Mr. Holdsworth said tho commencement and completion of the Arapuni scheme would mark a new era in connection with the development of electric power, not only in the Auckland Province, but a'so throughout the North Island. He said it was reported that the intention of the Government was to link up all the schemes, thereby increasing reliability, safeguarding local shortage, and tonsuring a more regular supply and load factor throughout the island.
