The strikers at Canberra accepted terms offered by the Prime Minister, Mr. W. M.' Hughes, and returned to -work. Mr. Hughes agreed to the request of a deputation that, the strikers at Canberra return to work on the conditions ruling prior, to Easter, the questions of rates and hours to be referred to a tribunal for \ decision, which would be accepted by either party. • SYDNEY ELECTRIC SUPPLY. INQUIRY INTO HIGH COST. (Reed. 7.16 p.m.) SYDNEY. May 2 The committee of the City Council investigating the causes of the high cost of Sydney's electric supply stfctes that to produce current valued at £356,000 in Melbourne cost £24,000..whi1e the production of £943.000 worth of current in Sydney cost £147,000. On the Melbourne basis it should cost only about half. ► COALMINERS CONSIDER TERMS. SYDNEY. May 2.
