' M R. R. MACKENZIE ELECTED » 1 DEPUTY, MR. G. R. HUTCHINSON. '■ At the annual meeting of the Auck- [ land Harbour Board yesterday, Mr. H. K. Mackenzie, who has acted as chairman for the past four months during the incapacity of the late Mr. H. D. Heather, was elected chairman unopposed for the ensuing 12 months. Mr. Mackenzie, in thanking members frfr the confidence they bid shown in him, said they all realised the importance _/ of the board, and in the interests of the \.-- • city and country it behoved them to look » well ahead in their policy of progress. • J Experience had shown them that they ! could not look too far ahead. The country 1 behind Auckland was not yet half 1 broken in, and they confidently expected ■ to see three times a3 much produce ex- ' ' ported in another ten years as was being now sent away. He referred to the a assistance which he had- received from - i members and officials during the past , four months, and said he was assured of ' the same support for the future. He felt confident that working together they. • would carry on the good work done m ' the past and do their share toward the i progress and prosperity of Auckland city 1 and port. R. Hulchinson, who was elected Mr. G. R. Hutchinson, who was elected 5 deputy-chairman, pledged himself to sup- ' port the chairman in- his aims, and said ' his only object in being on the Board • was to further the interests of the port 1 in carrying on the r sighted policy laid ' down nearly 20 years ago.
