DEVONPORT INTERESTS.
A meeting of the combined executive of the Devonport Central, North Devon- ' port, Cheltenham, and Stanley Bay Ratepayers* Associations was held on Monday. ) Tho proposed purchase by the Borough: t Council of the local electric light :in 1 stallation was discussed, but action bj 3 the respective associations was deferred pending information being received froir x the council on the subject. t, Tho removal of sand from Cheltenham - Beach for road repair purposes was con 1 sidored, and the matter wad referred tc 7 the various associations. The lack of fire plugs and the existence ] of small water mains in tho area of th( borough recently transferred f.rom Taka puna was commented on, the district, de * spite its rapidly increasing development ] being said to be practically without fire fighting t facilities. It was considered . however, that the subject was one thai j should be brought under the notice o the Borough Council by the North Devon port Association, the delegates of the lattei body mentioning that at the same tim< they would take the opportunity of put ' ting in a claim' for the installation of i . drainage scheme in that part of th< ; borough.
