CALCUTTA PRISON RIOT.
£30,000 DAMAGES BY FIRE.
46 CONVICTS WOUNDED. A. and N.Z. DELHI. April 30." It ia estimated that £30,000 worth of damage was caused by tho firo which occurred in the Calcutta Presoncc Caol during tho prisoners' riot, and destroyed the workshops. Tho situation is fairly quiet, but tho convicts are truculent. The gaol authorities have resumed control. At Ejjlantoon, soidiers were retained in case of further trouble. Forty-six convicts were sent to the hospital with gunshot wounds, while 19 escaped during the turmoil. Two havo been reaiTested.
