The first prosecution under the Act making it an offence to demand a bonus for • letting a house was heard yesterday, but fell through as defendant said he had not asked for £5 bonus, but for £5 wait paid in advance. The magistrate stud there was room for a mistake, and dismissed the case. Had a conviction lieen obtained, he said, he would have inflicted a fine of £SU.
