THE DERBY FAVOURITE. A. and N.Z. LONDON. April 28. Saint Louis' smashing yistory in the Two Thousand Guineas has solved the problem of establishing a Derby favourite. He is now quoted at fours. Until this week he hud run only oncu unplaced as a two-yetfr-old, Mr Gilpin's second Derby candidate is Re-echo. A remarkable story is circulated regarding the favourites for the Derby. The jockoys and owners of Gilpin's pair tossed a coin with the result that Archibald, who rode Saint Louis in the Two Thousand, rides Re-echo in the Derby, while Donoghuo rides Saint Louia The newspapers adversely criticise this method of deciding mounts.
