NEW MANUAL SCHOOL.

The new manual and technical training school at Avondale was opened yesterday afternoon by the Minister for Education, the Hon. C. J. Parr. The chairman of the Avondalo Road Board, Mr. G. W. Tait, presided, and Mr. H. S. W. King, member of the Education Board, and Mr. H. A. Barrow, headmaster of the Avondale sc'hool, also spoke. The building cost £3585 and equipment £400 the sum of £195 having been subscribed by residents of the district. There is accommodation for 185 boys and 210 girls. The districts served by the school are Point Chevalier, Avondale, New Lynn, Waikumctc, HenderBOiij Swangon, a nd Oratia.
