The North Canterbury branch of the Farmers' Union has passed the following resolution :-" This executive recognises the great difficulties the Government has to contend with in the various departments of the public service in attempting to make expenditure come within the limits of income. It also recognises the imminence of a national disaster in the affiliation of the Post and Telegraph I Officers' Association with the Alliance of j Labour. The Alliance of Labour is a j political organisation seeking, to us e in--1 dustrialism as a vehicle to reach its goal. ' In this method this executive sees a Wow ! to democracy and the ultimate destruction ! of the liberties that have come down to j the people through the centuries. It com- ! mends the Government in its opposition to the proposed affiliation, pledges the support of this executive, and urges the farming community to stand solidly against any such affiliation."
