j WOMEN'S WASTED LIVES. I A sentence of three montha' imprisoni raent for vagrancy was imposed upon Harl vey Kate Johnson, aged 40, who appeared : before Mr. J. W. Poynton, w.M., m the [ Police Court on Saturday. Sergeant Rowel! said accused had been drinking ! methylated spirits and was down badly. : She had been seeping out in the park, l A previous s»ntence of ref.imative treat- ! ment had apparently done her no good. A plea of not guilty was entered by . Margaret Jane Rutnerford, aged 37, who ; was charged with having been disorderly while drunk. A constable gave evidence that accused had been witn a drunken sailor near Victoria Park and on being warned she became abusive and gave trouble when arrested. She had a good husband who could not live with her owing to her conduct, but was paying her rent! Meanwhile, however, she was going wltn men on the waterfront. Accused was remanded until Monday 1 for sentence. ! John Williams, aged 50, who had a j record of 36 previous appearances, was I sentenced to seven days' imprisonment j for having committed an indecent act ! while drunk in Grey Street.
