HEAVY IMPOST ON TOPS.

NEW SCHEDULE IN SENATE. A. and N.Z. WASHINGTON. March 24.

The Finance Committee of the Senate agreed to tho wool schedule of the Permanent Tariff Bill. The 35 per cent, ad valorem limitation is cancelled, and the 25 cent per lb. clean content rate is increased to 33 cents per lb. Wool which has been advanced in any manner or by any process of manufacture beyond washed cr scoured condition, and is valued at not more than 30 cents per lb, is to pay 21 cents specific or 25 per cent, ad valorem. Wool valued at over 30 cents per lb. is to pay 36 cents specific or 25 per cent, ad valorem.
