DR. BENHAM'S OBJECTION. [by teleobaph.—PßESS association.] ' I>ONEDIN. Tuwday.

The Otago University Council has appointed Dr. Peter MacCallum,. assistant clinical pathologist a t the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, as professor of bacteriology and public health as successor to Dr. Champtaloup, who died last September. The new professor is 36 years of age and 3 New Zealander. He was educated at Christ's College, Christchurch, and Canterbury College. Dr. Banham, a member of the council, has given notice to rescind the motion appointing Dr. MacCallum- This will be considered at a special meeting of tho council to be held at an early date.
