Investment stocks were in good demand yesterday on the Auckland sharemarket and pricc3 were firm. In Government stockß War Loans, 1938, sold at £90 15s, with further buyers at £90 10s. Inscribed Stock, 1938, a£o sold at £90 15s, and there v/ere lato buyers at £90 12s 6d. Soldiers' Loan (bonds) had demand at £94 7s 6d, sellers £95. Inscribed stock in this loan was wanted at £94 10s, sellers £94 15s. In banks Union of Australia (old issue) changed hands at £12. Australasias were looked for at £11 13s, and New South Wales at £35, no sellers quoting. For New Zealands buyers offered 48s, sellers 48s 6d. In insurances New Zealands had sellers at 27s 9d, buyers 27s 3d. South British at 33s were wanted at 32s 6d. In financial lines River Plates changed hands at 18s. In gas business was done in Aucklands (con.) at 16s* 3d, and in Napiera (£lO paid) at £8 10s. In shipping Northern Steams (paid up) sold at 13s. In miscellaneous lines Auckland Tramways (pref.) wero done at 17s 3d. In mining Waihis changed hands at 18s, and Grand Junctions at 6a 4d.
