CARNIVAL AT CAMBRIDGE. [bi telegraph—own correspondent.] CAMBRIDGE, Tuesday

A carnival was held at Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Stead's fine grounds, Brackenfield, at Leamington, in aid of the Auckland orphans' fund, and proved one of the most successful functions of the kind eve? held in this district. There was a very large attendance representative of all parta of the district. Numerous stalls and sideshows did good business, and many competitions and sports events were held. The Hamilton Military Band and a jazz band from Morrinßville played musical selections. A jazz cabaret was held in the evening. The carnival was formally opened by Mr. S. Lewis, Mayor of Cambridge. The gross takings were about £360. The local butchers gave their whole Saturday's takings toward the fund.
