As Penelope 8 Bhe is surrounded by relations and friends j' i. in the midst of luxuries and comforts, j i 7 which ordinarily make married life all j 8 that is desirable. There is, however, a J skeleton in the cupboard, which makes poor Penelope's trouble acute. Miss Tempest is said to hold her audience I captive from the first, while Mr. Graham j Browne, ,as the doctor, is described as providing a finished rendering of a difficult part. "Pentlope" will be staged to-night and to-morrow night only. I ELLA SHIELDS. Interest has been aroused in connection | with the forthcoming visit of Ella; Shields, an English male impressionist, who commences her Auckland season at His Majesty's Theatre next Monday. Miss Shields portrays three types of men, a young, swaggering naval officer, a typ"ical EngHsh "johnny," and a millionaire "hobo." She won considerable praise from critics during her tour of Australia. One of her principal impel sonations is that of "Burlington Bertie of Bow." She is supported by her own company of vaudeville artists, the programme consisting of 15 star turns, Mis 8 Shields being on the stage herself for 45 minutes. The box plan will be opened at 9 a.m. on Thursday at Lewis B. Eady and Son, Ltd.
