Major-General Sir E. W. C. Chaytor' General Officer Commanding the New Zealand Defence Forces, arrived from Wellington yesterday morning, accompanied by Lady Chsytor, and proceeded to Rotorua by the morning express. Si r Edward and Lady Chaytor will return next Thursday, and will stay at the Grand Hotel. Sir Joseph Ward arrived in Auckland yesterday, and took up his quarters at M Grand Hotel, where he will remain for some days. This is his first visit to Auckland for about two yea™. He stated y«. terday that he was visiting Auckland purely on private business. He was n<w in very much better health than •vhen ho first returned from abroad some months back.
