STOCKS AND SHARES.
The tone of the Auckland sharemsrtet was good again yesierday. In Government stocks, War Loans, 1938, changed hands at £89, with more in demand at. that figure, sellers £[19 ss. Other loan issues were wanted at firm rates, but there were few sellers. In banks New Zealands were done at 47s 3d, moro being wanted it thai price, with late sellers at 47s 6d. Union of Australia® (old issue) were sought at £11 12s, no sellers quoting; and new issue were offered at £11 16s. For Nationals £5 13s 6d was offered without response from sellers. Ir insurances New Zealands at 28s had demand at 27s 6d. South British at 33s were looked for at 32s 6d. For Standards 52s was offered, no sellers quoting. In financial lines River Plates had buyers at 18s 4d, sellers 19s 6d. In coals Westports sold at 28s 6d. In gas Aucklands (con.) wero done at 16s 9d. In shipping P. and O.'s (deferred stock) had sale at £290, and more were wanted at £288, with no sellers under £300. In timbers Parker-Lambs sold at 21s 6d. In mining Waihis were offered at 38s 6d, buyer* 18s. Grand Junctions had sellers at 6s 9d, but there were no buyers. The following sales took place:—New Zealand War Loan, 1938, £89; Bank of New Zealand, 47s 3d; West port Coal, 28s 6d: Auckland Gas (ton.), 16s 9d; P. and 0. (deferred stock), £290; ParkerLamb, 21s 6d.
