In recent years tho fruit industry of Thames ha s shown rapid development. Apricots grow in abundance, and aro supplied to Auckland and other towns of the North Island. On the average, 12.000 cases of apricots aje sent away each year in 20'b. cases. One grower supplies about 3000 cases annually. In addition to apricots, 4000 cases of plums and 1000 eases of peaches and nectarines aro marketed yearly, while t.ho annual export of tomatoes is about 10 000 cases, and of apples and pears, 7000 bushel cases. Qver 200 acres are under orchard within a few miles of the- borough, each ranging from four to 35 acreg in area.
