ADMISSION BY POSTMASTER.
WRONG TIME ON TELEGRAMS. United Service. LONDON. Feb. 19.
In the case in which Captain Peel and his wife are charged with attempting to defraud bookmakers by means of wrongly timed telegrams, Watts, a village postmaster, gave evidence that he incorrectly timed telegrams handed in by the Peels because he thought a gentbman in Captain Peel's position would not work a trick on him. A few days later Captain Peel said to him: " Stick to the time— 2.45 p.m." A new turn was givevi to the case when Dow, a sharebroker, denied telephoning the name of the winner of the Duke of York Stakes te Mrs. Peel, but admitted that he made a different statement to the
