ONEHUNGA.

The Onehunga Borough Council mot last evening, There were present: Messrs. J. E. Cowoll, Deputy-Mayor, who presided, E. Morton. P. R. Lipscombe, T. Gilbert, and A. MoColl. On receipt of a circular from the Minister for Health urging a renowed effort in tho destruction of pts, tho town clerk reported that the sanitary inspector would furnish a fortnightly, report on tho steps taken by the citizens in this matter. Messrs. P, B. Lipscombe. B, Morton, and T. Gilbert were reappointed the oounoil's representatives on the Town Band Committee. The citizens will be represented on the samo committee by Messrs, H. Bower, S, Flemming, and J. Beavor.

MOUNT EDEN. 1 The Mount Eden Borough Council met last evening, those present being; The Mayor. Mr. J. W. Shackelford, and Messrs. W. Woollev, J. Smith, F. C. Brew. T. T. Garland. G. L. Taylor, T. MoNab, J. W. Hammill, L. Joll, J. P. Hooton. and E. H. Potter. The engineer was instructed to prepare planß for increasing the supply of water to residences in Mount Eden Road, In accordance with a promise given to Mr. F. S. Potter some time aeo, tho engineer was instructed to complete the rockery round Pottor's Park, the cost to be defrayed from a grant by the trustees of the Young Estate. The Mayor brought forward the matter of reorganising tho water department of the council. He suggested that tho present foreman be' appointed to take charge of the turncocks and do other necessary work in this connection, and that a foreman, to undertake all other work under the direction of the engineer he appointed. Mr. joll moved as. an amendment that the matter of reorganising tho water department be referred to the Streets Committee for a report. After a long discussion the motion was carried. Five tenders were received for the Pencarrow drainage work, the cost of which wis estimated by the engineer to be £1425. The tender of Winter and Co., £1*56 6s 6d, being tjie lowest, wsb accepted. The others were all considerably above the price quoted by the, engineer, ~,....,. It was unanimously decided that the ratenayers be aßked to sanction a loan of £2000 for enlarging the swimming baths and the dressing accommodn.tion, and to provide seating accommodation there.
