STOCKS AND SHAKES.
Investment stocks and Government loan issues were in good demand on the Auckland sharemarket' yesterday. Inscribed Stock, 1939, sold at £88 15s, and there were further Buyers for more at £88 10s, with no response from holders. Soldiers' Loan (inscribed) changed hands at £94 10s, with a further demand at £94 ss, sellers quoting £94 12s 6d. In banks Nationals were wanted at £5 13s, sellers £5 15s. New Zcalanda sold at 475, late buyere offering 46s 9d, the sellers' price being 47s 6d. For Union of Australias £ll 12s 6d was offered without response.' In insurances New Zealands were wanted at 27s 4d, sellers 28s. South British were in demand at 325, sellers asking 32s 9d. In gas 20s 9d wag offered for Aucklands (paid up), sellers 21s, and the contributing issue was in demand at 16s 6d, with sellers quoting 16s 9d. In shipping Devonport Steams sold at 21s. In timber Parker-Lambs sold at 21s 6d, while in miscellaneous shares New Zealand Refrigerating contributing issue changed hands at 13s, and Wilsons Cement at 15s 4d. In mining Haurakis sold at 2s 6d. Waihis were wanted at 18s, sellers 18s 9d.
